These handling procedures pertain to the frozen/fresh sales of Aunt Millie’s Bakehouse bread, buns and rolls. Aunt Millie’s Bakehouse cryogenically freezes all items within 24 hours of baking. Items are frozen via a nitrogen blast freezer which freezes items within 15-20 minutes thus locking in the freshness and preserving the shelf life for after thaw.

  • Products made by Aunt Millie’s Bakehouse have a 14-day shelf life once thawed and held at room temperature.
  • Never thaw/store bread in a cooler. Always store either frozen or at room temperature.
  • Our products come with a pack date on the case and a production code on the package. Best by dates will need to be applied to the products once they are removed from the freezer. Best by dates should be 14 days from when the product is removed from the freezer.
  • When the case is sealed, the best by date can be written on the case. Once the case is opened and the product is removed, best by dates will need to be applied to individual packages.
  • Best by dates can be written on individual packages with a marker. Some customers prefer to use day dot stickers with dates written on them or apply a date sticker using a price gun.
  • Products that will be used within the 14-day thawed shelf life period can go right to dry storage upon delivery, with any excess product held in the freezer until needed.
  • Products should be rotated using FIFO procedures.
  • It is not recommended to refreeze thawed products.
